Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, 10 October – City leaders from around the world have met in the Kazakh capital of Nur-Sultan for the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Global Urban Tourism Summit. The Summit enjoyed the highest level of political support, with the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev meeting with the Secretary-General of UNWTO Zurab Pololikashvili ahead of the official opening which was led by Prime Minister Askar Mamin and the Mayor of Nursultan Altay Kulginov
The UNWTO-WTCF City Tourism Performance Research is a compilation of 15 city cases which includes a set of key urban tourism performance indicators and an in-depth analysis of each city in areas related to the economic impact of tourism, sustainability or the use of new technologies in the measurement and management of urban tourism.

The publication highlights the progress the global tourism sector has made in advancing gender equality, with key case studies and statistics gathered from around the world.

The Ministers’ Summit on “Technology for Rural Development”, hosted by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in partnership with WTM, focused on tourism innovation and technology and their place in empowering rural communities.
